DSG sem 2 2004/05
The second semester kicked off with a not-so-usual session of ice breaking, laying out the whole plan for the semester, singing, games and last but not least sharing on why we chose Buddhism. Basically the whole idea for the sessions in that semester was to see the application of Buddhism in life, afterall, dhamma is life and life is dhamma isn’t it?
We also came out with various outdoor(or shud I say out-uni?) activities to highlight the practice of dhamma, for example, by conducting a trip to Brickfields MahaVihara(BMV) for dana,
watching movie at PBUM alumni center, helping out at BMV to arrange all the donations for the tsunami victims and going to Buddhist Gem Fellowship for metta meditation.
The help out at BMV for the tsunami victims came unexpected as we actually planned to listen to a dhamma talk happening at the same time there. We were approached by a sister there who asked us if we could lend a helping hand, even though there were quite a number of volunteers already. We were actually amazed by the amount of donations that was already there and yet,the donations kept pouring in, no matter what race, age, the kind of things they brought, or even the massive traffic jam around the area, people made the effort to come and contribute. It was touching to see how we Malaysians come together like this to help, not ourselves but other beings in another country, couldn’t help to think how generous and selfless these people were then(an example of anatta perhaps?), hopefully this doesn’t come only when disaster happens…
