MEDITATION RETREAT AT DENGKIL
MEDITATION RETREAT
How could we forget the meditation retreat we had at Dengkil Meditation Centre, by Ven. Bhikkuni Kusuma from 20th to 24th of Jan ’05.Of course it meant a lot to us as it was our 1st retreat and lots of stuff was new to us, haha, imagine how weird we felt practicing silence throughout the retreat, esp during the meals..had not been mindful while eating all these while..but I have to say we tried our best to keep up, esp when I noticed how the others hold on to the 8 precepts during the retreat.
We had our share of experiencing meditating for long hours, during wee early mornings, sitting still despite the number of insects flying and crawling around us…However that all was no match to the serenity we felt while meditating there. We had the chance to bring our minds to a calmer and more focus state. Perhaps our minds are used to be running all over the place with the way we have been cultivating our mind to be all this while..Not forgetting the place was so peaceful without the hustle bustle of a city we usually have in PJ…as if time juz stop for us to smell the roses, in this case the fresh unpolluted air and sometimes, sniffs of cow dung(not that bad la,we juz happen to wander bit far off from the house sniffs of cow dung(not that bad la,we juz happen to wander bit far off from the house while doing some walking meditation)..
This experience made us all the more to learn about meditation. Ppl out there; meditation is NOT boring or time where u’re a step closer to dozing off but it’s a challenge to tame your mind so that u’ll have a sharper and more peaceful mind, then u’ll be one with your mind and visa-versa..
